I Can Read! titles are designed to aid the process of learning to read. Every title features a direct correspondence between the art and the text, so students have plenty of picture clues. The font is large and clear. The reader’s tracking is supported by generous spacing between the lines, a limited number of lines on a page, text on a plain background, and numbered pages.

I Can Read! titles feature proper grammar and punctuation. Sentence construction is simple, and dependent clauses are avoided. Sentence breaks are always made at a natural place. I Can Read! titles do not use a set vocabulary list, but instead feature decodable text that is appropriate for readers at each skill level.

I Can Read! titles are high interest: Stories are told through action and dialogue, often with humor, and feature unforgettable characters. I Can Read! provides a great introduction to genre studies.
