Guide to I Can Read! Levels

A strong interest in reading and a mastery of comprehension skills lead to success in a variety of academic disciplines. Yet one of the challenges teachers face is managing to encourage reading excitement and high aptitude in a classroom of diverse readers. The I Can Read! series, with more than 200 titles by award-winning authors and illustrators, is sure to meet the needs of all your young readers, whether they are struggling with initial blends or sailing through complicated plotlines.

The I Can Read! series contains five levels appropriately named for their intended reader. The levels increase in complexity to allow for greatest success in ability and interest. The ratings take into consideration the following components: difficulty of vocabulary, sentence length, comprehension abilities, literary elements, and subject matter. The color-coded leveling system below uses convenient benchmarks to address the specific needs of all your diverse readers.
